Bringing Hadoop to Fedora

Hadoop has become the poster child for "Big Data" and is at the heart of a large and ever-growing open source ecosystem. The Fedora Big Data SIG is undertaking to adapt the current Maven-based Java project to conform to Fedora Packaging Guidelines. This presentation will discuss the background and challenges of this initiative along with an update on current progress.

Pete is currently focused on cloud computing with OpenStack (Trove in particular), Big Data workloads and technology consumption. He has extensive experience in many different types of distributed computing applications and technologies, including Web services (REST and SOAP), J2EE and CORBA. Fun fact: he once jumped off a New Zealand bridge before being told there was a bungy cord attached to his feet.
